Healthy Living

Children’s Mental Health Week (03.02.25)

For Children’s Mental Health week, we decided to do our own focus on one of our 5 ways to shine-Get enough sleep. In assembly, we learnt the importance of getting enough good quality sleep each night and we were very supposed to learn we should be getting between 10-12 hours of sleep each night! Then, on Friday, each class spent the day learning some top tips to help get a good night sleep, such as eating a sleepy snack, doing a calming activity and putting down technology, breathing and stretching exercises and making sure our room is not too hot!

P.E and Mindfulness Clubs (January-February 2025)

We are very lucky to have staff who offer exciting after-school clubs for free! This half-term, we have been really thinking about our wellbeing and have offered P.E. and mindfulness clubs to our children.  Both clubs have been very well attended.

Just Dance After-school club (27.11.24)

Miss Wild and Mrs Black have brought the fun and energy to after-school clubs this half-term with their take on Just Dance! The club has been a brilliant way for children to decompose after a busy day at school and embraces some of our 5 ways to shine-Do something you love and Exercise daily!

World Mental Health Day (10.10.24)

We place a huge importance on promoting and protecting emotional wellbeing and mental health at Sunnybrow. This year, we took part in World Mental Health Day by inviting children to wear either something yellow or something they love for school. There was a lot of ‘Stitch’ clothing out in force! Throughout the day, each class talked about our Sunnybrow 5 ways to shine strategy, focusing particularly on ‘do something you love’. In Sunnybrow, we work hard to promote a love for reading and staff are firm believers that reading is excellent for your mental health, so we took part in the Literacy Trust’s Take Ten campaign. Every class had a live lesson with an author, where they talked about the importance of reading for your mental health!

New Menu taster day (26.09.24)

Tony and Sian from Chartwells came into school today to do a taster session during lunchtime. They were introducing the children to some of the meals on the new menu. It was a huge success amongst children and staff and they are all eagerly awaiting the new menu!

Oral Hygiene Week (20.5.24)

Children learned how to look after their teeth, including how to brush their teeth properly and which foods and drinks we shouldn’t have too many of. Children also learned why looking after their teeth is important and what could happen if they don’t look after them.

Children’s Mental Health Week (05.02.24)

This year, we wanted to focus on ‘Eating a balanced diet’ from our 5 ways to shine. Mrs Black and Miss Wild challenged the school to the Great Sunnybrow Cook-off. Each class had to design and make a balanced and nutritious meal and Mrs Sim was the judge. The standard of the entries was very high and there was a competitive ‘buzz’ around school (especially amongst the staff) to see whose dish would win. There were 4 categories, and the winners were:

Class 1- Best presentation
Class 2- Overall best flavour
Class 3 – Most balanced meal
Class 4- Best dessert
