Carols at Willington Care Village (09.12.24)
Some of our Key Stage pupils visited Willington Care village to sing some of our favourite Christmas carols to them. Everyone sang beautifully, including the enthusiastic Mr Sanderson, and the residents were delighted to see us. It was a truly lovely afternoon. Then, some of Community Heroes children presented Hayley Ainsley with some care packages they had made for the residents who don’t have any family to visit them over Christmas. We are so proud of our kind and empathetic pupils.

It was a gorgeous afternoon, the Year 10 pupils were so polite, well-mannered and confident and our children loved showing off their reading skills and chatting to the older children about their book choices. Their teacher Miss Maughan said the children had been really inspired by the afternoon and a number of them are now thinking about a career in teaching!

A group of Key Stage 2 children visited our local care home this afternoon to sing the residents some Christmas carols and to deliver our Community Heroes Christmas care packages. The children sung their hearts out and the residents were so pleased to see all of the children and to hear their beautiful singing. We handed over the care packages to Jake’s mum Hayley and Hayley said the residents who received them were over the moon. Staff were incredibly proud of our caring young people. They really did themselves and our school proud today.
Community heroes (16.11.23)

Our school yard was really tidy (well done school) but we found lots of litter around the school drop off area. In week two, the children started preparing our Christmas care packages for some of the elderly residents at our local care home. We will be working on these over the next few weeks.
