Welcome to our School Council page
What is the School Council?
A new school council is elected each year, with representatives from Year 1 upwards. This creates a central group that speaks on behalf of the whole-school and makes decisions about school life. We value the opinions of our pupils and the School Council gives pupils a forum to share these opinions with the Head Teacher and other members of staff.
What we do
Our School Council has the very important task of listening to the views and ideas of pupils at Sunnybrow Primary. We are dedicated to constantly improving our school and we speak on behalf of the children in our school. Our School Council, which meets every half term, is supported by Miss Murphy.
As well as speaking on behalf of the children in our school, the School Council are also given a project to achieve in school across the year. In previous years, the School Council have played an active role in helping our school gain the Wellbeing Award for Schools and developing an awareness of the importance of a balanced diet. This year, the School Council will be taking part in several projects, one of which being supporting us to achieve the Rainbow Flag Award.
Who are our School Council members?
What have we been up to?
Jessica and Layton-James represented our School Council at the Willington Remembrance Day Service. They read out part of a poem and were fantastic!
School Council helped decorate some biscuits to raise money for Children in Need, as well as inviting children to come into school wearing non-uniform for £1. Everyone took part in some fun activities and managed to raise £75 on the day. Well done everyone!
Our School Council had a meeting with the town mayor and deputy mayor to discuss their views on Willington and the surrounding areas. They are going to be taking part in a project with other schools, involving finding out what young people think of the area and what they would like to see improve.
