The kinds of SEN that are provided for:

At Sunnybrow Primary School, we have experience of supporting children and young people with a wide range of need including:

  • General Learning Difficulties – children whose learning progresses at a slower pace
  • Specific learning difficulties-children who may have a specific difficulty with, for example,  aspects of reading, writing, maths or short or long-term memory
  • Speech and Language Difficulties
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Difficulties
  • Behavioural Difficulties
  • Dyslexia (difficulties with reading, writing and spelling)
  • Dyspraxia (problems with motor skills, organisation)
  • Autism
  • ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder – ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)
  • Development Coordination Disorder (DCD)
  • Sensory-seeking behaviours
  • Gross and fine motor difficulties
  • Downs Syndrome
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Other Physical or Medical Needs

Despite being a small rural primary school, 34% of our school population is currently on the school SEND register. We produce a special educational needs register as a whole-school, involving a discussion with all staff, children and parents. It is a parent’s decision if they want their child to be on the school SEND register.

The school provides data on the levels and types of need to the Local Authority. This is collected through the school census.

At present, we have some children with an Educational Health and Care plan, and we are also supporting children and young people with a range of needs, including:

*Speech, language and communication needs
*Autistic Spectrum Disorder
*ADHD
*Gross and fine motor difficulties
*Sensory issues
*Social, emotional and mental health needs
*Auditory, visual and working memory difficulties
*General and specific learning difficulties
