14th November
Today’s focus was on anti-bullying. We took part in role play scenarios to try and understand how people might feel if they are being bullied.
We also played an emotions board game. This encouraged us to talk about different times in our lives when we might have felt some of these emotions which included being sad, angry, embarrassed and happy.

Yesterday was Multi-faith Day in school. We took part in lots of different activities including making Peace Mala Bracelets and fact finding about all the different religions from around the world.
Each coloured head on our bracelets represented a different religion. In the middle we put a white stone which represented ourselves. We did this to show how we are surrounded by many different religions and no matter what someone believes in, we are all equal.
We also took part In mix and match research activity. We found out lots of different information about different religions.
13th October
This week was our Harvest Festival in school. We worked with Class 4 to do a presentation about the meaning of harvest as well as creating our own harvest artwork.

We’ve been looking at plate tectonics as part of our Geography topic on natural disasters. We broke up poppadoms to demonstrate how the earth is broken up into plates, then we tried to put them back together again. Afterwards we completed jigsaws to show the plate boundaries around the world…before eating our poppadoms!
11th October
Today we had a member of the British Judo team come in to school and deliver a free taster session for our class. We had the opportunity to practice our judo stance and develop quick hands.

Today in Literacy we’ve been making human sentences to help us understand how to use inverted commas to show when someone is speaking.

In PSHCE we’ve been talking about new starts. We came up with our own ideas about what we could do to help a new member of our class settle in to school.
14 September
As part of our DT work on Japanese food, we tried some tasters of some Japanese style dishes this afternoon. We then wrote about what we liked and what we didn’t like about each dish. They were all very tasty, even if the noodles were a bit spicy!
8th September
Class 3 have ended an excellent first week back at school by working in teams to solve problems linked to our work on place value. Well done to everybody for working so hard all week.

Here are the missing World Book Day photos! We took a walk to our local library and had the pleasure of being read some Dr Seuss books by a giraffe.
20th March
Our Year 4’s took part in a hockey festival at Parkside and had a lot of fun getting to understand the rules and play several different hockey-based games.
16th March
Last night, we sent a football team to take part in their first local area league match. Unfortunately we suffered defeat, but we were very proud of the way the team played together.
15th March
We used measuring tubes to measure capacity using the standard units of litres and millilitres. Using lots of water, we found out the capacity of several different containers.

We experimented with yet more non-standard units, this time to find the capacity of different objects. Using water, we found out how many “pots” it took to fill different containers; such as bottles, jugs and mugs.

In maths, we learned how to measure weight using standard units. Using scales and different weights, we found out how much things weighed in kilograms and grams.

We experimented in maths using non-standard weights. We found out how many cubes different objects weighed; like a ruler, teddy, and a shoe.

Yesterday we welcomed family members to come in and read with their child.
8th March
In maths today, we measured time in non-standard units. We decided to see how many claps it took for Shayne to run around the play ground, and how many high-fives it took for Ethan to complete the obstacle course.

Yesterday, we took a seven of our children to Parkside secondary school for a Netball tournament. Our team played so well and we were delighted to have come 4th in our area.
3rd March
We had a trip up to the Baltic Art Gallery in Newcastle and enjoyed several workshops (bridge building and clay modelling), as well as taking a look at the sights around the river.
2nd March
World Book Day! We dressed up as our favourite book characters, and had a trip to the local library.
15th Feb
We celebrated equality & diversity by reading books and creating flags that showed the message that we are all different, and different is ok!
6th February 2017 Today is non-uniform day so we all made contributions to our local foodbank as a donation. As part of the day, we had music and enjoyed learning a song and dance routine.
