We are so proud of how hard all of our children have worked this week! Year 1 have produced some fantastic information booklets about penguins (their chosen animal) and Year 2 have had a fantastic attitude during their SATs. We still have reading paper 2 to complete next week and then we will be rewarding the children with a little tea party!
Thanks for all your continued support!

Dear parents and carers,
This week is SATs week for the Year 2 children. We will be taking our time and making sure that the children have as much fun as possible. There is no pressure placed on the children-we are so proud of how much they have already achieved!

Dear parents and carers,
Hope you’ve all had a great weekend! We only have 3 weeks until the Year 2 have their SATs tests. They have all worked really hard, but we are concerned with the maths mental arithmetic test-we seem to have forgotten some of our facts and methods after the long Easter break. In the next 3 weeks, if you have any spare time, please could you practise any of the following:
* adding and taking away one and two digit numbers
* the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and the division facts
*number bonds for 10 and 20 (two numbers that add together to make 10 and 20)
Last year’s mental arithmetic test is available at the web address below to give you an idea of what is expected of the children:

Many thanks for you continued support. We are so proud of all the children and how hard they work every day!
Kind regards

Today, we turned our classroom into a doctors surgery and took part in some drama! This was to give us some experience to write about in our recount writing next week. We all had a slip of paper explaining our illness, then we walked to the doctors, checked in with the Receptionist Mrs Featherstone and visited Doctor Sim. Some of us were given prescriptions or hospital appointments too! We had so much fun and created some excellent story boards after!

Today is Kindness day at school! We started the day by receiving a compliment from Mrs Sim and Mrs Featherstone. The compliments were written on hearts and were already on our desks when we came in! Our challenge today is to give someone else a compliment.

We have had a lovely cosy morning reading bedtime stories by lamp light and drinking hot chocolate. Then, we chose our favourite stories and wrote book reviews! What a great start to our World Book Day!
18th February. Dear parents and carers,
I hope you’ve all had a fun and relaxing half-term! We are excited to see the children tomorrow. It is a really busy half-term as we count down to the Year 2 SATs tests which take place at the start of May, but we will still be having a lot of fun along the way!
Just a reminder that spelling club has now come to an end on Mondays. The children have made superb progress and are excellent spellers! Well done to all the children who worked so hard!
See you all in the morning-have a fun last day of holiday!

Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our history topic this half-term we are looking at toys old and new. To help us, please could your child bring in a toy that belongs to them, a toy that belonged to you and a toy that belonged to a grandparent? Toys will be labelled and kept safely in a box for a couple of weeks while we look at and investigate the toys, but we will take great care of them. Please could toys be brought into school by Friday.
Many thanks

21st December
Dear parents and carers,
Wow-what a term! We have loved every minute of working with your fantastic children this term and we are bursting with pride at the amount of progress they have all made! Today is Mrs Featherstone and I’s last day before the Christmas break, so we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support and wish you all a very merry Christmas! The children will be binging home their red book bags and P.E. kits home tonight. They have been given reading books for the holidays, so they don’t need to bring their book bags tomorrow. Our P.E. co-ordinator, Mr Vincent has also bought every child a school P.E. kit, so the children will not require shorts and t-shirt after the holidays. All we ask is that, for now, you provided them with plimsolls or trainers.
Please take care and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 8th January-please don’t forget book bags!
7th December
We had great fun at Lydia Street Church this morning for The Christmas Journey. Ask us all about it tonight and see if we can remember the Christmas story.

And….that is SATs OVER!! We are immensely proud of all of our Year 2 children. They have all worked their socks off and tried their best and that is just testament to their fabulous attitude to their work all year. We are celebrating this afternoon with a picnic on the field with Reception and Year 1, who also work so hard each and everyday.

Jim Lad the pirate has asked us to write information books about his sea creature pets. Today, we are looking for important information and highlighting key words. This is a tricky skill as we have to be very selective, but we are very good at it!
25th April
Today, we had a message from Jim Lad the Pirate! He needs someone to look after his pets when he goes on holiday, but he needs someone who knows all abut sea creatures! We told him we would like to help him out in some way, so he sent us a challenge. We had to use information books to find out if some of the sea creature he sent us were true or false.

Yesterday, we had our Class reading event. Thank you to the mums and dads who came in to read with their children. It means so much to the children and it helps to reinforce the message that reading is so important! Remember, try to listen to your child read 3 times a week.

We read lots of stories about different types of families such as King and King, And Tango make three, Heather has two mummies and The family book. We learnt that not all families have a mum and dad. Then, we made rainbow flags and printed our hands in rainbow colours too.
